Having lost almost all of its trained armored and infantry divisions over the past year, the Prosperity Party (PP) cabal is now relying on, almost exclusively, airpower and local vigilante bandits called Fanno in many of its operations in Oromia and Amhara regions. In both cases— air raids and operations by a ragtag army of local bandits—civilians have become its easiest and most favored target.
The regime has particularly unleashed a reign of air terror through its air and drone strikes in Wollo areas of North Oromia, and West Oromia areas of Gidda-Kiremu.
Other methods of terror in the form of invasion have continued in the West, Central Oromia areas of Karrayyu, East, and Southern zones of the Oromia region.
On the eve of the New Year, the regime has air-bombed yet another civilian target: Dandi Bori School in Darra District of North Shewa Zone. This latest tragedy comes after the regimebacked Fanno militia that crossed into the North Shewa areas of the Oromia region have been repulsed by our forces. In what appears to be a retaliatory air strike the fascists in Arat Kilo have carpet-bombed a civilian school. Since our forces take utmost precautions around civilian installations, the brunt of the damage is born, as usual, by our civilian population in the area.
As a regime that thrives on repeating misinformation and propaganda ad nauseam, the Prosperity Party and its affiliates have begun vilifying the Oromo Liberation Amy for civilians
murdered and looted by, inter alia, the Fanno bandits who have repeatedly targeted civilians in
the North Shewa Zone of Oromia as well as Amhara regions in the past few days.
As the Ethiopian government, far from shouldering its duties of protecting its ‘own’ citizens, has become the chief threat to the security and survival of our people, the OLF-OLA would like to remind the international community of its Responsivity to Protect (R2P) as articulated in the 2005 UN World Summit. We would also like to voice our concern to the role being played by Turkey, UAE, and Iran, and remind these nations that whatever geostrategic interests and/or concerns they have in the Horn region would never see the light of day by working with the genocidal Abiy regime.
